Peptide Remineralization & Ozone Therapy in Wake Forest, NC
If your dentist has found an early cavity — or an area of your tooth that’s starting to weaken — you may have more options than you think.
At Supremia Dentistry, we use a combination of peptide remineralization and ozone therapy to help your tooth heal itself. In the right cases, this means no drilling, no numbing, no filling. Just your tooth rebuilding from the inside out.
THE PROBLEM WITH "WATCH AND WAIT"
Early decay is typically managed one of two ways: drill and fill it now, or watch it and wait until it gets worse enough to treat. Neither of those is actually fixing the problem.
Peptide remineralization is a third option — one that intervenes early, works with your body’s natural biology, and in many cases reverses the lesion entirely.
WHAT IS PEPTIDE REMINERALIZATION?
Your teeth are made primarily of hydroxyapatite — a crystalline mineral structure. When decay begins, that structure breaks down. Traditionally, once enamel is lost, it’s considered gone for good.
Peptide remineralization changes that.
The active agent we use is Curodont Repair, which contains a self-assembling peptide called P11-4. When applied to an early carious lesion, P11-4 diffuses into the body of the lesion, self-assembles into a three-dimensional scaffold, and then attracts calcium and phosphate ions from your own saliva to form brand new hydroxyapatite crystals — rebuilding your tooth structure from within.
This isn’t a coating on the surface. It’s guided enamel regeneration happening inside the lesion itself.
WHAT IS OZONE THERAPY — AND WHY DO WE USE IT FIRST?
Ozone (O3) is a naturally occurring molecule with powerful antimicrobial and biochemical properties. In dentistry, ozonated water applied to a tooth does two things:
It eliminates decay-causing bacteria. Ozone is lethal to the bacteria that drive caries — without antibiotics, without chemicals, without damaging the surrounding tooth structure.
It prepares the lesion for deeper treatment. Ozone removes organic debris and proteins from the demineralized surface, opening the lesion so that remineralizing agents like Curodont and hydroxyapatite can penetrate more deeply and work more effectively.
Think of it this way: ozone cleans and prepares the environment. Peptide remineralization rebuilds it.
HYDROXYAPATITE — THE FINISHING LAYER
After peptide remineralization, we apply a hydroxyapatite varnish — the same mineral your teeth are made of — as a final protective layer. This supports ongoing surface remineralization and helps seal the treated area while the deeper rebuilding continues.
Hydroxyapatite is completely biocompatible, metal-free, and fluoride-free.
WHAT THE APPOINTMENT LOOKS LIKE
- Prophy — we clean the tooth surface to remove plaque and pellicle
- Acid etch — a brief application of phosphoric acid opens the enamel pores so treatment can penetrate
- Ozonated water — applied for 30–60 seconds to disinfect and prepare the lesion
- Curodont (P11-4) — applied and allowed to diffuse for 5 minutes while the peptide self-assembles within the lesion
- Hydroxyapatite varnish — applied as a final protective layer
No drilling. No anesthetic. Most patients are surprised by how straightforward it is.
IS THIS RIGHT FOR YOU?
Peptide remineralization and ozone therapy works best for:
- Early non-cavitated carious lesions (decay that hasn’t broken through the enamel surface yet)
- White spot lesions — including those left after orthodontic treatment
- Patients who want to intervene early rather than wait for a problem to become a larger, more costly procedure
- Patients committed to a proactive, whole-body approach to their dental health
- Children and adults with dental anxiety who want to avoid drilling whenever possible
- Patients who prefer biocompatible, fluoride-free treatment options
WHY THIS MATTERS BEYOND THE TOOTH
At Supremia Dentistry, we think about dental treatment in terms of the whole body. Every time we can avoid drilling, we preserve natural tooth structure that can never be fully replaced. Every time we support your body’s own healing mechanisms rather than overriding them, we’re practicing dentistry the way we believe it should be practiced — conservatively, biologically, and with your long-term health in mind.
